Coffee Quest #16: Brother Baba Budan
Smack in the middle of CBD, going up against all the other coffee juggernauts, Brother Baba Budan is a small store but not small enough that I'd call it a hole in the wall.
I love the decorations, the mood, the general feel of chairs just strung up in the ceiling. The people here were so nice and welcoming, and the place was utterly packed. They've definitely got a repertoire of customers that visit often and they seem to know by name.
Seven Seeds is a roastery just a little bit north of the CBD. It's a very dark roast for my taste, but I think if you've grown up on Starbucks/Gloria Jeans/big chain equivalents, you'll very much love this one. It's a more full-bodied darker roast that comes with good texture and works very well with steamed milk.
Personally, I'm looking for something closer to a medium-lighter roast with an explosive aroma and aftertaste, but my partner really does like this one. She says it tastes great with oat milk.
